This beautiful oil painting, titled "Deep Thoughts," by Stephanie Weaver is a moving portrait of a little girl in red. The painting represents one of 5 stages of grief - depression.

Anyone who has ever been through depression can see the hopelessness in the little girl's expression. Depression is a bleak world inside her head, but outside herself, the world remains vibrant. Stephanie uses intense red for the dress because when there is depression, the feeling often starts from a passion, an intense feeling towards something she wanted or had. Contrasted with the red, the little girl is sitting in a field of green grass, where there is hope, but still isolation from everyone else as she comes to terms with regaining her passion.

The tone of voice in this painting is joyful, despite the somber subject matter. This makes it an excellent choice for anyone who wants to remember what they've been through and still find hope for the future.
